11. Dishonored 2 (2016)

Arkane

This sequel to Arkane Studio's stealth/action cult hit does improve several aspects over the original.

It deliciously swapped locations from the grim period London look, for lush Mediterranean Europe. It solved the blank slate (aka dull) character issue, by having the protagonist(s) be a more involving presence.

Oh, and most importantly... it gave us more abilities and more tools to go nuts with. Link up to four guards, and snuff them out in one blow, or morph into a shadow creature and sneak past through their legs.

And that's the essence of the series: it puts you in tough stealth scenarios, with a vast set of goodies that allow you to approach events in any way you so, please.

In this aspect, Part 2 didn't disappoint at all.

Why it sits below the first on this list, is because it doesn't do anything to surpass it, with even the plot a blow-for-blow retread. So while the original was a rip-roaring reinvention of the stealth genre, this is satisfied with basically being more of the same... and to be honest, that's not a bad thing at all.
