Ranking All Of Metal Gear Solid's Boss Battles From Worst To Best

5. The End (MGS 3)

Without question the boss fight everyone loves talking about is the face-off against the 100-year-old sniper The End. Yes, he can be killed earlier on in the game with a well-timed sniper bullet or you can wind the console's clock forward a week to make him die of old age, bypassing the boss fight entirely, but that's no fun. This is a highly atypical boss fight for the series because it takes place over a huge expanse, and the pacing is incredibly slow: it's not been uncommon for some players to spend well over an hour completing it. As infamously challenging as the fight is (because rather than kill you, The End will tranquilise you and drag you back to jail), there are a ton of tools at your disposal to make hunting him down easier, namely thermal goggles (which can catch the glint of his scope and also his footsteps) and the d-mic. Sniping or sneaking up on him are the primary methods to win the fight, and whether you enjoyed the battle or hated it, you'll certainly be relieved when it's over. This is Kojima at the purest height of his diabolical, insane and brilliant powers.
