Ranking Every Bioware Game From Worst To Best
1. Mass Effect 2
Mass Effect isn't only the best game Bioware has ever made, it's one of the best games made by anyone ever. Stripping away a lot of the gameplay fluff that dragged down the original title and revolutionising the combat while still retaining the deep RPG elements that made the first release such a rewarding experience, this sequel was a step up in every possible way.
More about Shepard's squad rather than the world-ending threat of the Reapers, Mass Effect 2 was a chance for players to become deeply acquainted with the unique individuals who populated the planets of this sci-fi universe.
Tasking players with recruiting a band of mercenaries, the title encouraged a deep connection to each team member, with optional loyalty missions fleshing out their backstories.
Brilliantly, these loyalty missions were intricately connected to the game's journey towards a suicide mission that more than lived up to its moniker. If you didn't spend the time to prepare and win the trust of your squad, there was a good chance that most - or even all - of them would die before the quest's end.
It struck the perfect balance between epic spectacle and deep character building, and no Bioware game has been able to quite recapture the same magic since.
