Ranking Every Boss Battle In Spyro: Reignited Trilogy
1. Gulp
Considering he’s the best part of Ripto’s boss fight, it’s no wonder he’s on top when he’s on his own. He combines the best elements of so many other great battles in Reignited, and they pay off brilliantly.
Like the Sorceress in 3, his attacks force you to think and dodge instead of mindlessly jumping and charging. And like Spike and Ripto, you need to aim and time your attacks if you actually want to hit him. His Reignited redesign is just gorgeous too, even if the poor guy still couldn’t afford a set of braces for the remake. While Crush is a little ‘meh’ in the story, Gulp has the perfect level of characterisation to keep him involved in the story without overcomplicating the narrative.
A bit like with Ripto, Gulp uses the same artillery as Spyro, forcing you into a risk or reward situation. Going after the same projectiles limits the amount of attacks Gulp can dish out, but that means getting up close an personal with him, putting your health at risk.
Spyro: Reignited has a huge range of bosses across the three games, but nothing quite captures the feel of toppling a huge monster like Gulp.
