Ranking EVERY Fallout Game From Worst To Best

8. Fallout 76 (2020 Update)

Fallout games
Bethesda

You may wonder why I've split one game into two entries, but honestly I feel like for all the stick that Fallout 76 has gotten (and rightly so) the 2020 iteration has improved by such an extent that it does feel like a new game.

It's still not a great game, but it as a better one.

You'll still encounter ridiculous bugs and glitches, framerate issues, crashes and some instances where you'll be thinking you've somehow managed to port the "Wild Wasteland" perk into your game, but there have been significant improvements in other areas.

Now, instead of a world populated only by other players, NPC's have arrived to make the world feel more fleshed out, and give a sense of familiarity that the playerbase was pining for and providing a bit of feedback on choices that you'll end up making. The code is marginally more stable as well, meaning that you might actually hit your intended target (not something to brag about but at least it's more stable), and enemies aren't as bullet spongy as they were.

There's still a long way to go however; from the in game economy, slow weapon reloads, extreme bottlenecking, and the slog from level 10 to 20 (which might well distance anyone who gives this a second chance), but in this iteration Fallout 76 is in a place where it's turning, slowly, into the game players wanted it to be from the off.
