Ranking Every Final Fantasy By Their Soundtrack
10. Final Fantasy Type-0
Final Fantasy Type-0 HD OST: Tracks - 62, Composer(s) - Takeharu Ishimoto
It's very difficult to group Final Fantasy Type-0 with any other Final Fantasy titles, given its status as a standalone spin-off that isn't part of a particular series like Tactics or Dissidia. It's a game that probably would've fallen into obscurity had the decision not been made to release a HD version of the original PSP game on the Playstation 4. Bundled with a Final Fantasy XV demo, said release exposed it to a much wider audience, enabling them to experience its fantastic soundtrack and not-so-fantastic plot.
Though the game does have an overarching narrative, it is mission-based and most of its tracks score various battle sequences. Highlights include 'That Which Stands In The Way', 'The Quiet Bloodbath' and 'Life Of Darkness'.
Character development is not the game's strong point, as the bloated cast have little personal involvement in proceedings. The mysterious and ultimately tragic pair of Rem Tokimoya and Machina Kunagiri are the only ones to get eponymous character themes, but excellent character themes they are, particularly the arranged versions heard later on in the game and the additional 'Machina and Rem' piece that serves them both.
Elsewhere,
the game's ending has a few horrible vocal themes, but sandwiched between these
are great tracks such as 'Final Fantasy Agito' and 'Type Zero'.
