Final Fantasy V OST: Tracks - 67, Composer(s) - Nobuo Uematsu
Though Final Fantasy IV received a Western release (as Final Fantasy II given that the original Final Fantasies II and III had been skipped), it's follow-up did not, becoming yet another title that Americans and Europeans would initially miss out on. Boasting a phenomenal job system yet a relatively subpar story, it isn't up there with the series' best yet nor it down amongst the worst. The same can be said about its soundtrack.
Tracks such as 'Spreading Grand Wings', 'The Day Will Come' and 'Slumber Of Ancient Earth' score some of the game's best moments, whilst villain Exdeath gets a menacing character theme in the form of 'The Evil Lord Exdeath'. Elsewhere, 'Home Sweet Home' is a good reminiscence theme, but several other tracks are quite samey when compared to one another.
There
is one piece from the game that stands out above all others, that being the
timeless 'Clash On The Big Bridge', which served as a battle theme for one of
game's recurring bosses, the hilariously brilliant Gilgamesh. The character has
since appeared in a variety of subsequent titles with a remix of the track
following him each time, though none of them have lived up to the original in
terms of sheer addictiveness.
