Easy though it is to sniff at a James Bond game released for the Game Boy in 1998, this handheld 007 romp is actually not bad at all.

Though really far more of an RPG than an actioner, strangely enough, James Bond 007 is nothing if not one of the more singular and unexpected games in the IP's history.

Yes, the visuals were rudimentary even in 1998, but between the globe-trotting on offer, the appearances from legendary villains like Oddjob and Jaws, and the ability to stop off for a game or two of cards, it actually gets what James Bond is all about far more than most of the aforementioned games.

For a title produced under evident constraints, it's really rather good.
