A certain stigma exists that mobile games can't offer much more than microtransaction-laden micromanagement. Unchained X proves that they can be much more than that.

Unchained X features the first appearance of Chirithy, the Foretellers and original Keyblade wielders. You get the chance to create your own character and customise their outfit, a series first that gives the story a more personal feel. Although the story takes a while to unravel fully, it does tell the history of several different pieces of Kingdom Hearts lore; including Kingdom Hearts itself.

The pick up and play gameplay is by no means complicated but it does flesh out and get more difficult as the game goes on. The real highlight of the game comes from the different Medals you can buy, which all show different characters and artworks. The Medals are always updating to feature the newest characters and films, making it feel really exciting to log on and get a new pack.

So what's wrong with Unchained X? It's rather simplistic at times and the microtransactions are a bit out of hand. The prices aren't worth it at all, meaning you'll almost always rely on logging in every couple of days.

For Kingdom Hearts fans though, you can't really go wrong with Unchained X, especially when the game itself is free.
