Ranking Every Mario Kart From Worst To Best

6. Mario Kart 7 (3DS/2DS, 2011)

Something of a forerunner to Mario Kart 8, Mario Kart 7 varied the tracks hugely by adding underwater and airborne sections so players could vary their play style. It also meant custom built karts made their debut for the first time in the series as players had to choose their kart chassis, wheel type and glider design.

New items like the Lucky 7 was a stroke of genius as the levels of mayhem that could be unleashed with the mix of items really changed the race within seconds. Players would be given a mix of power and speed boosting items and would be able to fire them off in quick succession. The ability to race in a first-person view was also welcomed and gave the game a very unique feel compared to other MK entries. Some critics feared the formula was once again becoming stale for the series, however.

This entry hits number six on our list because it's the second-best portable Mario Kart you'll ever play. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is hands down the best portable version of Mario Kart you can play, but I'll get to that...
