Ranking Every PlayStation Classic Game From Worst To Best
7. Destruction Derby
Considering the PlayStation Classic contains 20 of the best titles ever featured on the console, all of the games present are (to some degree) very popular. However, Destruction Derby might be the closest game there is to being an underrated gem.
It focussed on vehicular combat, although Stock Car Racing and Time Trial modes were built around pure driving skill. But those were only two of the game modes; the others were where it really shined.
Wreckin' Racing saw points awarded for how much damaged you dished out as well as the actual race standings, but the best mode was Destruction Derby, which saw you and all the other cars dumped into a huge pit, with a single objective: smash each other to smithereens.
Limited by its era with a lack of tracks, a small roster of cars and no customisation, for players returning to the game these days, that might actually be a relief. Modern racing games can drown you in options; not just the make and model but paint job, decals and fine tuning. Destruction Derby is refreshingly simple.
