Ranking Every PlayStation Classic Game From Worst To Best
4. Resident Evil: Director's Cut
Resident Evil was, for a while, the top-selling PlayStation game ever. Since its 1996 release it has been overtaken by a few other games on this list (as well as some notable absentees), but its legacy has stood the test of time.
Without the success of Resident Evil, titles like Silent Hill, Alien: Isolation and Dead Space may never have seen the light of day. Even much more ambitious games like The Last Of Us and Left 4 Dead owe something of their existence to Resi.
Being the first at something doesn't always make you the best, though. No one's going to hold up FIFA 1994 and compare it favourably to FIFA 19, for example. But Resident Evil has stood the test of time.
The game is genuinely terrifying, especially the director's cut which used footage only ever seen in the Japanese version. It's rare that a game can compare to a horror movie, but Resident Evil came as close a humanly possible back in the '90s.
