In Development: MLB The Show 21

Established in 2001, San Diego started with the cult classic, The Mark Of Kri on PS2. It's an overlooked hidden gem from that era, unfortunately releasing in a weird period when Sony was clueless about marketing an exclusive third-person action game.

With that title fizzling, they doubled down on sports games, first with the solid NBA series, then finding their niche with MLB The Show in 2000, resulting in what is widely considered the definitive baseball game franchise.

And that's the path they have remained on for two decades... mostly. There have been random attempts at spreading out into F2P shooters (Kill Strain), racers (LittleBigPlanet Karting), motion gaming (Sports Champions), and VR (Starblood Arena), but none were successful.

So, baseball will remain the studio's main purpose, and why not? Their franchise is currently so popular, Sony will even be going multiple-platform with the 2021 entry in order to spread the love.

For non-sports fans though, San Diego will barely register on this list.
