Right now the next-gen "console wars" are heating up, and despite Microsoft going in with a "Don't worry, everything is for everyone, we got you" mentality, their purchasing of Bethesda kinda upends that sentiment in grand fashion.

On the PS5 side though, what will you actually be doing in early November after dropping half a grand on the new system?

It's worth pointing out that right now, only a fraction of the titles shown at the various PS5 showcases are actually PS5 exclusive. Many are timed exclusives or even full multi-platform releases. The likes of Resident Evil VIII and Hitman 3 are coming to Xbox, or Miles Morales, Horizon Forbidden West and Kena: Bridge of Spirits will be forwards-compatible with PS4.

Yes, it's a strange ol' time for an even stranger year, and one where it feels as though Sony and Microsoft are continuously one-upping each other at every turn.

For now though, let's focus on the facts: The games you can play on day one of PS5 ownership.

With first-party titles and next-gen offerings in general receiving price hikes to $80/£70, what's actually going to be worth your money?

Note: Games getting a PS5 re-release (Avengers, Watch Dogs, Fortnite, NBA 2K21) don't count. We're ranking titles dropping on the system's launch.
