Ranking Every Silent Hill Video Game From Worst To Best

10. Silent Hill: Book Of Memories

When making a new installment in a psychologically driven scare-fest, your first thought should of course be to turn it into a multiplayer dungeon crawler, one that's entirely devoid of any actual horror or stakes.

Bearing very little resemblance to anything remotely Silent Hill related, this game eschews survival horror in favour of a communal experience that sees you tearing through hordes of enemies with friends by your side - you know, the core ethos of what Silent Hill is all about?

Yeah, unsurprisingly this one tanked.

It's completely understandable that after so many years, the developers would want to shake up the franchise in a bold new way, but turning it into a mindless, button-mashing dungeon crawler was not the way to go, and the game's scathing reviews and ice-cold reception from fans are certainly reflective of this.

Book of Memories was also a commercial failure, which many would attribute to its exclusivity as a PS Vita title, but there's no doubt in our minds that it was this game's entirely misjudged premise that caused its demise.

As of the time of writing, this is the final Silent Hill game to be made - I can't think why?...
