Ranking Every Silent Hill Video Game From Worst To Best

6. Silent Hill: Origins

Certainly the black sheep of the Silent Hill franchise, Origins has the distinction of being the last of the classic era Silent Hill games before the series veered off the deep-end and lost its distinctive charm.

Starting its life as a PSP exclusive, Origins quickly garnered a decent following for offering handheld players an authentic survival horror experience that didn't compromise on quality like so many others. This game put players in the shoes of Travis Grady, a trucker that finds himself trapped in the titular town prior to the events of the first game.

With Travis being the burly-type, Origins has a greater emphasis on melee combat, allowing the player to wail on monsters with his fists or by using a whole host of breakable melee weapons that gives the combat a little extra flavour. Although outside of the meatier action this one was pure Silent Hill at its core.

It did lean a little too heavily on its predecessors, not pushing the series forward in any meaningful way. That's not entirely a bad thing as Silent Hill: Origins is yet more classic Silent Hill, and at this stage, we'd settle for that over nothing at all.
