Ranking Every Silent Hill Video Game From Worst To Best
5. Silent Hill: Shattered Memories
The last Silent Hill game to really put the emphasis on horror, this game's deviations from the traditional formula did alienate some fans, but for those who were willing to see it through to the end, this game was a spine-tingling experience that won't soon be forgotten.
A drastic re-telling of the original game's events, players were once again in control of Harry Mason as he desperately tried to find his daughter Cheryl, who had become lost within the harsh realm of Silent Hill.
An overhaul in basically every department, Shattered Memories is a completely different beast that aimed to terrify players in new and exciting ways. Most notably by stripping away all of the combat elements, meaning you had to rely on your running shoes to get out unscathed.
The lack of player agency in combat does make this one of the more intense games in the series, but such a deviation does detract from the creeping atmosphere as at any given moment, you may be forced to abandon what you're doing and flee from enemies.
Shattered Memories is one of the series' most interesting outings and definitely one to seek out if you love the feeling of being helpless in a horror game.
