Ranking EVERY Wolfenstein Game From Worst To Best
3. Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus
With Deathshead finally gone after the nuclear strike in the last game, taking down Irene Engel and liberating America from the grip of the Nazis is next on the agenda. Here though, B.J. Blazkowicz is no more than a bag of meat - beaten and broken. This leads to some neat shake-ups of the now well-know Wolfenstein formula, as the super suit and late modifications truly help Colossus stand out.
The strength of this game isn’t the combat scenarios though, as a lot of levels feel more like standard corridor shooters, with much of the gorgeous looking areas feeling underdeveloped, unlike New Order which truly felt as if it had some element of exploration; really hitting the perfect blend of wide linear level design and narrative drive.
The character work here is what is top-notch as even though B.J. Blazkowicz is literally dying for most of this he has come full circle into becoming a full-fledge character that players can care about. From the muttering to himself to the moments we are taken to his past this once face in a box, finally has true meaning.
