Ranking EVERY Wolfenstein Game From Worst To Best
8. Wolfenstein RPG
Coming out of left field after John Carmack got bored one day and lust decided to turn DOOM into a turn-based RPG, Wolfenstein soon followed suit a couple of years later with its own version.
This pocket-sized experience really did set the bar of early iOS gaming pretty high - well before everything was priced out and the App Store became a free-to-play hellscape.
This game worked on a grid-based scheme, so imagine B.J. Blazkowicz as a piece moving across a board - rather similar to what happened in Castle Wolfenstein. As well as taking the structure from the classic Wolfenstein 3D, RPG mixes that with the look of Return to Castle Wolfenstein for a surprisingly tight experience.
Unlike other games in the series until this point, Wolfenstein RPG went for a drastically lighter tone over what had come before. Sure, the game still involved shooting Nazis and had their iconography all over the place, but this also let you punch every portrait of Hitler with actual reactions.
The best game on iOS, to be honest.
