The game that put the camera over our shoulder and perfected the sort of aiming method the likes of Operation Winback were trying years prior, RE4 also came with one of the best introductory levels in gaming history.

From then on in, Capcom would give us a whole new strand over overblown Resident Evil - one with quick-time events, screen-filling boss battles and turret sequences.

It divides fans to this day on how it changed what RE "is", but there's no denying the impact of this fourth main instalment.
