Ranking What Was REALLY The Best Video Game Every Year 1990-2021
2012 - Far Cry 3
Little did we know just how much Far Cry 3 would be the best and worst thing to happen to the franchise.
Let's avoid how much Ubisoft have since copied and pasted this game a handful of times, because in 2012 there really wasn't anything better. Michael Mando's Vaas might have been underused overall, but the scenes he was in became instantly quotable and now, iconic.
Mainly though, it was Far Cry 3's gameplay that became its most recommendable trait. Outpost clearing, crafting systems, the feel of gunplay and how experimental you could be once multi-kill unlocks started dropping - this became what Far Cry "is" for a reason.
