Okay, this is where things got REAL.

3D gaming continued to hit the ground sprinting, and within one year we had everything from GoldenEye 007 to Gran Turismo, Tomb Raider to the sublime Crash Bandicoot 2.

Amongst so many recommendable titles though, was the masterful Final Fantasy VII. A timeless mix of tactical turn-based combat, a memorable score from Nobuo Uematsu plus a dark, memorable tale of environmentalism and oversized sword-wielding warriors, there's a reason FF7 was the game that "brought JRPGs to the West."
