Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart Review - 7 Ups & 1 Down

1. Mini-Boss Types Repeat Too Much

If I'm rounding things out and really trying to think of a negative, there is too much of a reliance on the same few mini-boss types throughout.

Clearly included to shake up combat arenas or levels in general, across the 13 hours it took me to 100% everything, you do only go up against one type of dinosaur, one type of purple laser-throwing mech or one type of flying centipede-like aerial drone.

It doesn't fundamentally get in the way, and these encounters are super fun every time, but if we're talking brass tacks, having the same creatures/enemies be defeated in the same way every time does get a little tiring.

Outside of that though, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart is an EASY 5 star game. The perfect execution of time-tested design ideas that confidently expands the franchise, further showcasing that Insomniac are arguably the best game developer working today.
