In single-player, Red Dead Redemption 2's gunplay is slow, methodical, and absolutely brutal. Online is no different.
Headshots, currently, are a valuable commodity to master, and if you find yourself getting to grips with the controls, locking on and finding the perfect sweet-spot to ding your opponent in the face and/or head, you'll find yourself leaping up the leaderboards in no time.
Of course, it's easier said and done, and some weapons will enable you to pull off headshots more reliably than others, but the point is that, unless you're close quarters with a shotgun, always always take time to aim for the head.
