Red Dead Online: 7 MAJOR Issues Rockstar Must Address
1. The New Story Isn't THAT Interesting...
Red Read Redemption 2 was a tour-de-force when it came to storytelling, but the same cannot be said of its multiplayer.
It's easy to see what Rockstar are attempting here; you, the player, take on the role of a wrongly accused convict destined for the hangman, but are saved by the widow of the man you were falsely accused of killing. It's the perfect set-up for a typical revenge-driven western, and yet, with a silent protagonist and some random players by your side, it just doesn't gel together at all.
Whereas in GTA Online the player's silent protagonist was quirky and at times downright hilarious, here, in the world of Red Dead, they just feel out of place. Missions see players make honour-based decisions much the same way Arthur Morgan did in the main story, but they're carried out by vote and, in most places, the neutral expression of four silent protagonists contemplating the fate of an NPC isn't charming - it's creepy.
Bear in mind that Red Dead Online is almost certain to change in the months to come, but as far as first impressions go, it hasn't given the best.
