Red Dead Online DLC - 9 Things Undead Nightmare Must Include
3. Public Horde Events
One of Undead Nightmare’s primary mechanics/modifiers was the idea of protecting the various towns and settlements like Blackwater and Armadillo from being overrun by hordes of flesh-eating monstrosities. This could be a good mechanic to transplant into their horror-themed update.
Building on their already established Public Events system, Rockstar could introduce more randomly triggering events where Players work together (or potentially against each other) to defeat a horde of zombies, save and protect civilian NPCs, or to find and slaughter an undead animal.
Again like they already do, the events could be tiered, with Players earning a rating and reward based on statistics like completion time, accuracy, and enemies killed. Adding a competitive co-op aspect means that another Player could turn on you in a split second, putting a bullet in your back to take your cut of the spoils.
GTA V didn’t lend itself to this as much as more or less all of the PvP modes requires Players to agree and enter lobbies, whereas having events where Players can choose to work together (or not) and occur dynamically in the Free Roam environment would make for some memorable encounters.
