Red Dead Rebellion: 10 Essential Features It Must Have

8. No Microtransactions

Of all the features on this list that are likely to not happen, it's the pushing of microtransactions, particularly on the online community. At this point, it's a given that many developers - not just Rockstar - are going to continue to use them because enough players have proven that they're willing to spend their hard earned, real-life money on in-game cash rather than earn it through actual gameplay. With Grand Theft Auto V, the microtransactions somewhat fit the superficial themes of the game; that is, the "I want it now" mentality GTA V so often loved to poke fun at. Throwing down your real cash for in-game coin to buy stuff you really don't need is a circular irony of materialism that went hand-in-hand with the game itself. For the next Red Dead game though, this needs to be done away with. The Wild West is a frontier where one has to make it on their own, keeping what they earn and forging ahead with what they have to get what they need. Online and off, players should be forced to work for what they get, keeping everyone on an even playing field. If someone has better weapons or more cash or better duds, it'll be because they earned it on their own rather than taking the easy route to get it.
