9. Set Across Multiple Time Periods

This theory ties in with another that will be elaborated on later, but this one discusses the possibility of seeing a steadily progressing setting across several time periods. It's unclear whether it would just spread across a single year or multiple, but it sounds like the passage of time may not always be completely straightforward.

Hopefully, this would allow for a multi-faceted story that can show off a constantly changing environment, along with a society that is gradually adapting to new technologies. Redemption saw Marston and society starting to grasp the concept of vehicles, yet still in disbelief that a man could ever fly. A consistently changing time period would allow for these intriguing moments in which players get a glimpse into simpler, less advanced times.

Considering the visual variety shown off in the environments, it may end up being more of a varied landscape than actual separate time periods, but the environmental differences will be much appreciated regardless. Besides, Redemption had a couple of time jumps (John going to the ranch, Jack going from teenager to grown adult) and made them fit very naturally, so it wouldn't be too surprising if they can pull it off once again.
