Red Dead Redemption 2: 10 Things You Must Do First

1. Turn Off HDR, Because It's Terrible

There was naturally a ton of hype about how glorious RDR2 would look with HDR settings enabled, so it's rather disappointing to report that a large number of players - this one included - are finding the game's HDR presentation to be shockingly washed-out and lacklustre.

Despite the undeniably enhanced luminosity of HDR, it actually makes the lush landscapes feel more dull and pallid. Turning it off instantly rejuvenates the look of the game, and so while it's a shame Rockstar hasn't better-implemented it, 4K TV owners really shouldn't feel obliged to suffer through it just because it's a hip new feature.

Considering how beautiful HDR has been in many recent games - God of War, Spider-Man and Shadow of the Tomb Raider in particular - this is a baffling failing for a title that's generally so meticulously constructed and presented.
