1. It's Not Designed To Compete With GTA Online

Despite all the criticisms that get levelled at GTA: Online, there's no denying its success. Just when it's thought that it'll finally wind down development and cease to be, in comes another update and, against all the odds, a small resurgence follows. It's the gift that keeps on giving (depending on who you ask), and though you'd probably think that Red Dead's multiplayer would step on its toes, Rockstar have been keen to reiterate that won't be the case.

Speaking in an earnings call last year (via Gamepsot), Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick reiterated that he doesn't see Red Dead Online as a successor to GTA. Instead, he sees both platforms coexisting for a while, which - depending on how you feel about the company's shift from single player to multiplayer - is bound to leave you feeling a certain kind of way.

In any case, this should come as a relief to GTA Online's dedicated fanbase. While everyone's thoughts immediately turn to GTA VI and the many potential settings it could head to, it's important to remember that Rockstar already have a self-sustaining platform for Grand Theft Auto. Should Red Dead Online take off too, fans might have to wait more than eight years for the next sequel...
