The superior sniper rifle of the two available in RDR 2, the Carcano Rifle is by far the weapon you want on your back during one of the many sniping missions in the 60-hour-odd campaign.

However, in a game with such frantic and impactful gunplay, aided by the satisfyingly stylish dead eye system, it's baffling that some players will willingly choose an always-scoped Sniper as their weapon of choice. For all its boosted stats, the Carcano Rifle still suffers from Rockstar's 'floaty sniper' disease. The white dot reticule that intrudes even in the scope hinders your accuracy, and a lack of weapon feedback makes it hard to confirm kills.

However, for the faults of the sniper rifles, the Carcano Rifle is still vastly superior to the Rolling Block rifle. Slower-than-a-shotgun firing rate? Good riddane.
