Resident Evil 2: 10 Secrets & Weapons Everyone Totally Missed

It's easy to miss things when you're fleeing in terror.

It's been three months since Resident Evil 2's remake/reimagining/re-whatever has been out, shifting well over four million copies since release.

With Capcom on a resurgent high, support and content has been coming thick and fast, as well as fans finding new and inventive ways to speedrun and complete the campaign and extra content.

Whereas others are taking their time, filled with fear and trepidation over what lies lurking in corridors and secret labs. However you approached one of the year's best games, you might have missed some things on your playthrough(s) - like the shoutout to ol' Chickenheart, or the Swiss Army police badge.

Perhaps you never experienced a certain secret door cutscene nod on your first playthrough, or the weird ice cream flavours on offer?

Capcom's RE2 redux really does have a level of love and care befitting its totemic original, so let's have a look at some of the secrets, hidden weapons and references you might have missed.

10. The Unbreakable Knife

Knifes, in a pinch, are great. Useful for checking if a downed zombie is proper dead (or undead, whatever), it's also handy if one fancy taking a bite out of the ol' juicy jugular.

Trouble is, some berk seems to have commissioned them to be made of aluminium, as they break over time/use. However, if you're plucky enough to spot and break all the Mr. Raccoon figurines about the city, the unbreakable knife will be waiting for you on your next playthrough.

You have to play through as both main characters, as they have a handful exclusive to their respective campaign(s). But why wouldn't you experience both sides of the story?

One slight caveat: It made be unbreakable, but it's not a homing knife. If you stick it in something nasty, you'll have to finish it off to retrieve it. Leave the blade in any body and it's gone forever.
