Resident Evil 2: 9 Things To Look Forward To

3. Protect Ya Neck

Anyone familiar with the REmake back on the GameCube in 2002 (and the subsequent HD-ing on newer consoles) will be aware of defense items. Single use items for each character, that act not quite as a "get out of jail free" card, but minimising potentially threatening attacks.

These have been implemented into this version, but not quite in the same way. It seems that when a character uses their knife in defense, it blunts upon multiple uses, though you can get replacements.

Do you try and evade an enemy, or take the hit at a reduced strength and damage your knife, in order to clear the enemy from your space and give you room to leg it?

As well as defense items, there's also an element of base fortification going on too. Those familiar with the boarded windows (and the hands, so many hands!) of the RCPD can now pick up board packs and try and limit potential zombie breakthrough.

Whilst not a detraction from the core action/survival horror gameplay, it's a nice feature for those who want to explore areas with some peace of mind.
