Resident Evil 2 Remake: 9 Tiny Details Fans Will Love
1. Resident Evil 1.5 Inspirations
The infamous sequel that was never to be, Capcom's scrapped version of Resident Evil's original successor featured many of the same characters and elements - Mr X, Ada, an alternative version of the RPD, etc. - that would eventually become part and parcel of Leon and Claire's story, but much was left on the cutting room floor.
Motorcycle enthusiast and Claire Redfield progenitor Elza Walker is the most well-known example of unused content discarded with the prototype, but other assets, including alternative costumes for Ada and Claire, were left on the scrap heap too. Until now.
Courtesy of the collage below, it seems Capcom's not averse to dredging up unused assets for the remake, including, where it can, references to the game that never was. Ada's new costume, in particular, is a direct throwback to what Capcom had originally intended for her to wear (with a pair of shades thrown in for good measure) and the revised layout of RPD's main hall actually hails from its 1.5 incarnations.
Capcom's bound to have hidden other references in-game to be discovered, so you'll want to keep those peepers peeled come March next year.
