Resident Evil 3 Remake: EVERY Major Change & Missing Feature

Returning To The R.P.D

Resident Evil 3 RPD
Capcom

Original:

It has been claimed by many that both versions of Resident Evil 3 are nothing more than asset flips. Whether it be a quick cash in by Capcom or the fact Sony wanted a follow up for 2 on their Playstation, this really isn’t the case and in fact, revisiting locations such as the Raccoon City Police Department make perfect sense for the plot.

Well more so in the Playstation 1 original, as Jill was in search of any forms of life with the city burning around her. She was former S.T.A.R.S after all and this was probably the safest place in RC she knew of.

Not only that, but this served as a logical place for Nemesis to find her for the first time. After all, where better of a place to find those pesky S.T.A.R.S?

Resident Evil 3 Carlos
Capcom

Remake:

Weirdly in the Remake though, Capcom decided to switch things up majorly and send Carlos to the Raccoon City Police Department instead. Here the return to the RPD isn’t so impactful as frankly, it is just another mission Carlos has been sent on by the Umbrella Biohazard Countermeasure Service (U.B.C.S.).

So yeah even though he encounters zombie Brad, he doesn’t really care who he’s come across much more than this is just another S.T.A.R.S member. And just before he watches as Marvin is attacked, but this the first aspect of RE2 that players didn’t need to be explained.

After that Lickers make a return and the mystery of who blew a hole in the wall is answered. Something we didn’t need to know.

Oh, and this section breaks continuity slightly if you really think about it. Carlos can go around opening safes and lockers, which will be re-locked for Leon only hours later.
