Resident Evil 6: 10 Reasons It’s The Death of the Franchise

10. It€™s Becoming a Gears of War Clone

Gears of War was awesome right? It was unique and innovative enough that as if by magic, and almost overnight, clones of it sprouted up across the varying platforms. Suddenly, a new shooter sub-genre was vying for position amongst the top selling FPS€™s; each entry slightly inferior to GoW in their own way and each one arriving to an exponentially less interested audience than the last. So why then, about four years after everyone€™s bored of the GoW style cover-based shooter, do Capcom release a game that echoes the formula as heavily as Resident Evil 6 does? And not only do they do that, but they laud the decision as a new direction for the Resident Evil franchise, like it€™s some shiny new concept. I€™m not buying it Capcom; it€™s just another sign that the Resident Evil franchise is no longer an innovator, but a follower.
