Resident Evil 6: 10 Reasons It’s The Death of the Franchise

9. Six is Quite Enough

Was Nightmare on Elm Street 6: Freddy€™s Dead any good? No, of course not. Was Friday the 13th part VI any better? No, it absolutely was not. As a general rule of thumb, if you buy anything - movie, video game - whatever it may be, that features a number higher than 2 on the box, then you€™re probably setting yourself up for a disappointment (not always the case, GTA is still going strong for example). Resident Evil shirked that trend, to a certain extent, by completely changing the format of the entire franchise for Resident Evil 4. Fair enough, Capcom must be applauded for successfully managing to wring a few more years from the property. But by 6, I can€™t help but feel that the entire concept is almost completely out of gas by now. At least, that€™s how I feel towards it. After caring five times previously already, I€™m just not sure I have the energy to care all over again for a sixth. And judging by the unbelievably harsh criticism Resident Evil 6 has been suffering net-wide, I€™m not the only one.
