Resident Evil 6: 5 Reasons It'll Be Better Than Resident Evil 5

3. Who Needs One Campaign When You Can Have Three?

The multi-dimensional campaign of Resident Evil 6 will be one of the game€™s biggest selling points and hyped features. It is certainly something I am looking forward to experiencing as long as it is done correctly. I imagine it may get criticised by some as attempt to cater for all audiences but when you€™ve got a game series that has a varied audience due to genre-crossing then the best thing you can do is to try and put everything together into one game. There appears to be elements of survival horror with Leon€™s campaign, squad based shooting with Chris€™ and on-rails scenes with Jake. The three characters are apparently meant to cross paths along the way and the story will hopefully adapt to how the player acts (although I doubt this will happen). There may also be another un-lockable scenario after the player has completed the game which sounds similar to Separate Ways from Resident Evil 4. This is a tactic that Capcom have used previously; fans of the series will remember how you were able to choose between Jill Valentine and Chris Redfield at the start of Resident Evil. At the start of Resident Evil 2 players also had the choice between Leon Kennedy and Clare Redfield, both of which had different scenarios to play through. Capcom€™s approach with Resident Evil 6 shows a new found ambition though; these are three different scenarios in three different areas with three different types of game play. Each of the campaigns is reported to be roughly 70% as long as the campaign from Resident Evil 5, so there should be at least 20 hours of game play. My only worry is that Capcom may make the story too unrealistic, not that the idea of a zombie outbreak is realistic at all but the reactions of the characters in most of the previous games were at least believable. As long as we don€™t get anything as cringe-worthy as Chris€™ boulder punching scene from Resident Evil 5, I will be happy...
