9. Focusing On The Right Characters And Back-Stories

Resident Evil 6 showed that sometimes less is more. Despite it allowing players to control three series favourites in the shape of Chris Redfield, Leon Kennedy and Ada Wong (along with newcomer Jake Muller), the effect wasn't quite what the developers had aimed for. Capcom might have through they were doing fans a service, but they ended up disappointed that the game didn€™t explore more of the series' lesser-known characters With the objective for Resident Evil 7 to offer core fans something fresh, rumours abound that Capcom are looking back at some of the series' neglected characters are likely to be welcomed. Barry Burton, one of the original supporting characters in Resident Evil has seen very little playing time, even if he was shown some love in Resident Evil: Revelations 2. Capcom could do well to bring him and the similarly popular Claire Redfield back. Rumours that Capcom is set to turn to some of these untold backstories could give the franchise a lift while staying true to its roots. After all, there€™s plenty of characters that have unfinished business, including Rebecca Chambers and Billy Coen.
