Resident Evil 7: 10 Controversial Things It Can Learn From 6

1. That Resident Evil Feel

Despite all the changes Resident Evil 6 made, it still truly was a Resident Evil game. And that€™s something 7 needs to make sure it does too. This may well be the most controversial point of all. 'How is Resident Evil 6 at all like a classic Resident Evil game?' You may be asking. It€™s made all of these changes, changes to the plot, the gameplay €“ at its core it€™s different! And yes, comparisons to the older games in the series begin firstly with the title, with all other similarities perhaps somewhat forced. But Resident Evil 6 still managed to capture that Resident Evil spirit. The game still tries to scare you, to horrify you, yet at the same time acknowledging the general silliness of the concept. 6 attempts to Hollywood-ify itself, yet in its occasional campy dialogue (€œWhat€™s the matter, not a fan of sewers?€ ... hush now, Leon) it still has echoes of its predecessors. And as mentioned, the characters are still the same as they were in previous games. They are developed now, yes, but they are intrinsically still the same mansion exploring Chris or rookie cop Leon. There is a continuity from the older games that means you can€™t help, in some small way, but feel a fondness for 6. Resident Evil 7, above else, needs to ensure it keeps true to the series. That€™s a controversial thing to state seeing as the series as changed so much, but there is still an underlying Resident Evil vein to all the games so far, even the unpopular ones. 7 has to tap into this vein, too. Were there elements of RE6 that you'd like to see followed up on in 7? Let us know in the comments!
