Resident Evil 7: 10 Essential Things It Must Have

6. Get Rid Of Malevolent Ego Maniacs As Bad Guys

Let's get this out of the way, Albert Wesker was a brilliant baddie, one of the best in gaming as voted for by many gamers in many polls over the years. He had it all, he was supremely intelligent, physically unmatched and despite his thirst for power he didn't lose his temper until his untimely demise which made him all the scarier. With Wesker meeting his end in RE5, for 6 players were introduced to Derek Simmons, the director of the NSA who pretty much destroys half the world to prevent the president of the US from revealing the secret truth behind what actually happened at Raccoon City before infecting himself with a new C-Virus variant and becoming the key monster to fill up with bullets. Look at how the first three games approached things; while the lore of the series planted Wesker as being behind everything that happened in all three games, he was only revealed as a traitor at the end of the first game, with the 2nd and 3rd game having you deal with monsters rather than cackling and power hungry maniacs. The threats that William Birkin or the Nemesis were far outstripped anything that a man in a suit could ever be. There's still a chill goes up the spine of most gamers when the Nemesis utters the immortal growl of "S.T.A.R.S"
