Resident Evil 7: 10 Essential Things It Must Have

5. Stop Shoehorning Umbrella Inc. Into The Story

In the good old days, Umbrella was the ultra dominant pharmaceutical company who were behind the T-Virus, zombies and all kinds of mutated messes of flesh but according to the series lore, the company was eventually forced to fold, given the atrocities it had unleashed on the world. Yet the subsequent games keep referring back to the shadowy evil organisation in the most ham-fisted of ways. 5 had Chris and Sheva on the trail of Tri-Cell, the new chemicals company who were mutating the better part of west Africa according to Wesker's will, only for them to find barrels with that iconic Umbrella logo on them about halfway through the game. In 6 it gets worse as the shadowy organisation of the week is called Neo-Umbrella. Seriously. They have bases, infinite reserves of cash and the same mad scientists bent on making the most disgusting monsters possible and it's getting to the point of ridiculousness. Of course the RE series needs an organisation creating all of these beasties, that's not in dispute, but at least just leave Umbrella to the in game history books, it's getting embarrassing now.
