Resident Evil 8: Every Confirmed & Leaked Detail You Need To Know

Werewolves, zombies, and ghosts!

Resident Evil 8
Capcom/Ready At Dawn

Much like the viruses that create the monsters in the Resident Evil series, details about the next games in the series keep leaking out of Capcom. It's currently unknown if these leaks are the works of ineptitude or targeted releases to see whether these details turn the unsuspecting public into frenzied fans. Whatever their origin, we all flock to these leaks when they come out, hungrily devouring every detail as if they were the brains of our family members once we've fully succumbed to the infection.

Resident Evil 8 is a big name game that is expected to come in the next console generation, but so far it hasn't even been confirmed as in development outside of a couple of big leaks of information that have sprung forth. However, these have given us some interesting insights into the sequel.

All the information in those leaks sprang from several unrelated sources, and several seemingly unrelated facts fit together nicely to give us an idea of how the game will play and what the focus will be. As with everything based on leaks, you should take all the information with a pinch of salt and a snifter of disbelief. But, if they're accurate, the next Resident Evil is going down an interesting direction...

11. The Perspective Is Probably First Person

With two prominent leaks about Resident Evil 8, and a year between them both, it should be expected that some conflicting information shows up.

In the leak of last year, we learned that Resident Evil 8 will be keeping the third-person viewpoint after the success of Resident Evil 2 REmake proved it works as well for a survival horror as it does for the more action-oriented games in the series.

This year's leak seems to contradict that, as we'll apparently be keeping the first-person viewpoint that was pioneered in Resident Evil 7. This viewpoint allowed a deeper and more personal connection to the horror before us, and it's this that Capcom want to evoke according to the most recent rumour.

So, which one is it? Well, personally I'm hoping Capcom include a way to play the game in either viewpoint, but it's beginning to look like the latest leak is the more accurate one. Having heard the same information from a different source, Eurogamer have seemingly confirmed the first person viewpoint.

Whatever we end up with, the RE Engine works so well for both first and third person and Capcom have proved they can provide heapings of horror equally well from either perspective.

After hearing that you are what you eat, Mik took a good hard look at his diet and realised he might just be a szechuan spare rib alongside prawn fried rice.
