Resident Evil 8 Wishlist: 10 Things We Want To See

Returning characters, no more Molded and... ghosts?!

Resident Evil 8
Capcom

Against all odds, Capcom brought Resident Evil back from the dead in 2017. Rebooting the series with an entirely new first-person perspective and a renewed focus on survival horror - after years of belaboured action the fans were beyond sick of - we finally had an entirely new version of Resident Evil for future generations.

But just because the title was a return to form doesn't mean that it was flawless. In fact, the release made some rather divisive changes that didn't exactly sit well with longtime Resi fans.

By not completely breaking away from the old games with a total reboot, Capcom have found themselves occupying a precarious middle ground; torn between fans clamouring for a return to the style of previous games, and those hoping that Resident Evil 7 will become a new beginning for the long-running horror franchise.

Still, there's no reason why Capcom can't please players on both sides, and by building upon the solid groundwork of the latest game, the team could easily deliver a sequel that satisfies everyone. The foundation is built, but there are some features and changes that the next incarnation of Resident Evil absolutely needs to include going forward.

10. Even More Video Tape Vignettes

One of the most interesting additions to Resi 7 were the video tapes that were scattered throughout.

Playing these tapes transported you into the shoes of an entirely different character who had visited the Baker mansion before you, giving the developers the ability to create short, original vignettes that had the freedom to break away from the mechanics of the main game.

Not only were they home to some great little scares, but they acted as an insight into the state of the world before you arrived in it, fleshing out the story and providing valuable clues as to where you needed to go next.

The only disappointing thing about these videos was that there wasn't enough of them, and with the sequel Capcom needs to focus on implementing them even more in the campaign.
