Resident Evil 8 Wishlist: 10 Things We Want To See

8. Greater Supernatural And Psychological Elements

Resident Evil 8
Capcom

One of the disappointing things about Resident Evil 7 was that it didn't follow through on the psychological - and even occasionally supernatural - themes present in the demo.

Taking more inspiration from P.T than the previous games in the franchise, the demo featured ghosts and strange figures haunting the mansion's corridors and rooms. It made the whole situation somehow feel even more unnerving, and added an extra element of intrigue that was missing from the final release.

While overtly supernatural elements might not sit well with longtime fans of the series, there's no reason why there can't be a distinctly Resident Evil explanation for them. Hell, even the question of whether the ghosts are real or not could feed into the horror of the title, adding a psychological element of not knowing what's real and what isn't.

It doesn't mean that Resident Evil has to drop its focus on biological terror completely, but adding in a threat that's more psychological would do a great job of keeping the suspense high going into the next game.
