Resident Evil is a series that’s always at its best when horror is the focus. It was when the games delved too far into the realm of action where the series would come off the rails, with Resident Evil 6 being the prime example.
Right at the heart of this misstep was the campaign that centred around newcomer Jake Muller, a mercenary working for Umbrella who finds himself teaming up with a grown-up Sherry Birkin.
In Muller’s defence, his combat is satisfying and his comradery with Sherry is a lot of fun. Likewise, his revealed connection to the series built on the series' lore in a surprising way.
However, partaking in over-the-top motorcycle chases just isn’t the kind of gameplay that put Resident Evil on the map.
