When it was first released in 2002, the GameCube remake of the original Resident Evil was absolutely stunning. By taking the PlayStation classic and giving it a complete overhaul with gorgeous new graphics was a great move by Capcom it quickly became the definitive version of the game. Now, Capcom are returning to the game and bringing it onto Sony and Microsoft consoles for the first time, along with a PC version, and not before time. The Remastered version of the game doesn't offer any new content though; it simply puts the game in a high-definition format, improves the aged controls and aims to create the best Resident Evil experience possible. Still, having been exclusive to the GameCube for thirteen years, there's a lot of Resident Evil fans out there who may be experiencing the Remake (affectionately dubbed the REmake) for the first time: even those who are seasoned veterans of the PlayStation classic will find themselves lost at first. That remake allows for a revisit of the most intriguing things about the REmake: things that newcomers to the game need to know for their first run-through.
