Resident Evil Remaster: 10 Things Newcomers Need To Know
10. It Still Looks Incredible
The most obvious change in the REmake is the updated visuals. With the original Gamecube release, the improvements were huge: gone were the blocky faces and low-res backdrops, replaced by incredible 3D models and redesigned rooms - even to this day, it looks phenomenal. Still, the remastered version goes above and beyond to make the best looking Resident Evil yet. The changes aren't immediately obvious but the high definition rework prevents scenes from becoming dark and murky: it's definitely the best way to experience the classic nowadays. One of the most understated changes is the improvement to lighting seen throughout the mansion. A particular delight is the way lightning flashes across Jill or Chris' faces: it adds to the game's already unnerving atmosphere impressively. In a survival horror game, presentation means a lot. The remastered version of Resident Evil absolutely nails this aspect; the Spencer Mansion genuinely looks like a terrifying place, making exploration nervy and tense. Oh, the zombies look more human and therefore, more horrifying too. Have fun.
I have an addiction to achievements, a craving for new bands and a dream to become Captain America. I once finished second in a Mario Kart 7 tournament so I'm kind of a big deal.
