Returnal PS5 Review: 9 Ups & 3 Downs
1. Environment Design Can Lack Detail
If Returnal does fall down somewhat it’s occasionally in the environmental design. While there are imaginative areas, others can appear a little plain or lacking in detail.
Some rooms feel a little empty and don't encourage exploration, while it's also a game that looks better in motion rather than in still images. Consequently, there'll probably be a few rooms in each biome that don't inspire much passion in the player when they inevitably show up.
That’s not a huge issue, but because the environmental storytelling can be so great, you want more of it.
