Though it's not much of a surprise, the leak does confirm that Rocksteady's version of Superman is rooted in the superhero universe the devs established with their Batman trilogy. The link makes sense, considering the abundance of references to the character that were littered throughout Arkham Knight.

Still, that link shouldn't be taken for granted, as a shared superhero universe isn't something a game publisher has attempted before. Hell, they've barely been able to get one hero right, never mind successfully been able to blend together a series of different franchises and stories.

If they pull off the integration well, it could revolutionise comic-book games just as much as the original Arkham Asylum did back in 2009, setting a precedent that Marvel will no doubt need to match with their upcoming projects.
